'Liminal' was selected for inclusion in the Lumen Prize Exhibition 2013

'Liminal' was initially created for the studioxyz exhibition 'the end of the world'. As a group we took inspiration from Nevil Shute's novel 'On the Beach', a phrase from T.S. Eliot's poem 'The Hollow Men' and were influenced by the apocalyptic Mayan prophecy for 21st December 2012, to create a show for Fringe Art Bath 2012.

Interpretations of the title varied from, a study of the liminal space between life and death, what would remain of the world were humanity to vanish tomorrow and an investigation into the cycle of destruction and rebirth.

My contribution was a projected, continuous loop animation. I started by investigating spaces that visually encapsulated the  idea of change, for example dusk, dawn, borders and crossroad. My selected images were merged together into an animation that referenced the work of the Romantics including Turner and Casper David Friedrich.
